Inside Transportation is designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you. It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit.

Metro, Roads more prepared than ever for winter - On the heels of one of the most challenging winters in recent memory, King County Metro Transit and the Road Services Division have improved internal coordination and communication with other jurisdictions within the county. Metro is also offering new tools for transit riders to stay informed during severe weather when service may be impacted.

When fleeing flooding, follow the signs - With a compromised Howard Hanson Dam, the Road Services Division decided to be proactive about the possibility the Green River Valley could flood this winter. Roads has installed signs pointing the way to safety for Green River Valley residents and others along key corridors in the county.

Rider alert

What to know when riding Metro in 2010 - Among the things you need to know when riding Metro in 2010 are the fact that ORCA cards are now free, but will cost $5 starting February 1st. Furthermore, Adult/Senior/Disabled fares will go up $.25 as of January 1st, 2010, and Metro transfers will only be accepted on Metro buses.
