New service hours in the DDES Customer Service Center effective January 4, 2010

DDES is modifying service levels in order to match resources. Given these difficult economic times, King County DDES is making every effort to provide as much service as possible.

We understand that quality service in a timely manner is of the utmost importance to our customers: the builders, developers and property owners of King County.

DDES operates Monday through Thursday and is closed on Fridays. Please note the changes to service hours in the following areas:

Permit Center hours:  M-Th, 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Permit Center is where customers submit permit applications by appointment and drop off supplemental materials. The Permit Center is also where permits are issued. To schedule a permit intake appointment, simply call 206-296-6797.

Free technical assistance:  M-Th, 7:30 a.m until 9:30 a.m.

DDES offers free technical assistance on a variety of permitting and land use topics each morning in the Permit Center. Free technical assistance is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and is typically limited to 15 minutes.

Cashier's Office:  M-Th, 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Cashier's Office is located within the Permit Center and is where customers pay for permits and drop off simple permit applications with payments. For billing questions, customers can call the DDES Billing Hotline at 206-296-6659.

DDES Records Center:  M-Th, 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

The DDES Records Center assists customers using a combination of imaging and microfilm technologies to research completed building and land use permit files. To contact the DDES Records Center, simply call 206-296-6696.

DDES Main Customer Service Line:  M-Th, 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The DDES Customer Information Line at 206-296-6600 offers permit customers and property owners access to a live DDES staff person for answering DDES procedural and customer service questions.

The DDES Web site at www.kingcounty.gov/permits is also an excellent source for customer assistance and is continuously accessible. Other information sources, such as our newsletter - DDES Quarterly News - is available via this same web site.  If there is basic information associated with the building or land development process in unincorporated King County that you are looking for but cannot find online, simply e-mail paula.adams@kingcounty.gov.
