The Health and Medical Area Command is currently not activated.

Public Health – Seattle & King County is the primary agency responsible for Emergency Support Function 8 Health, Medical and Mortuary services in event of a disaster in King County. The Health & Medical Area Command provides for the direction, coordination and mobilization of health and medical resources, information and personnel during emergencies and disasters. This includes, disease surveillance and lab analysis, medical resource management, morgue operations, medical surge, isolation and quarantine, emergency medical services (EMS) and environmental health.

The Health & Medical Area Command is comprised of a various personnel with disaster planning and response expertise, including Public Health emergency preparedness staff, local government staff, liaisons to local emergency management, emergency medical reserve corps, and healthcare providers with expertise in logistics, planning and emergency response.
