King County Community Health Indicators

King County Hospitals for a Healthier CommunityThe Public Health Community Health Indicators Project is a set of indicators measuring the health of King County residents.

It was developed to provide a broad array of comprehensive, population-based data to hospitals, community-based organizations, community health centers, public agencies, policymakers and the general public. Community Health Indicators were conceived as a follow-up to the 2002 Institute of Medicine report, The Future of the Public’s Health in the 21st Century, which emphasizes relying on data about the entire community to look at multiple determinants of health.

We encourage you to also visit the new and innovative King County Aims High website, which includes not only health data, but other indicators across all King County agencies. Aims High is part of an ongoing effort to increase transparency and accountability in county government.

Each indicator presents tables, charts, and maps on King County trends and demographics, data for King County Health Reporting Areas and comparisons to U.S., State of Washington and the Healthy People 2020 Indicator, if available.

The complete range of this data is not available for every measure.

King County Hospitals for a Healthier Community (HHC) is a collaborative of 12 hospitals and health systems in King County and Public Health – Seattle & King County. HHC members have joined forces to identify the most important health needs and assets in the communities they serve. The first Community Health Needs Assessment is available online. As part of this effort, the KC HHC has supported the expansion of community health indicators.
